Rules of Competition V3.0 September 2008 1. Eligibility a. Tournament is open to active PJSA members whose membership is current at the start of the tournament. b. Participants may enter as individuals who may fish aboard any boat, or enter their boat, which covers all recreational anglers fishing aboard their boat. (PJSA defines recreational as non-charter fishermen. Expense sharing is not considered to be a charter.) c. Anglers who enter their boat are automatically entered as an individual as well, allowing them to fish as an individual aboard other boats. d. PJSA members running charters aboard their own boats are eligible to submit only fish caught by the themselves during a charter. Fish caught by a charter crew are not allowed.. 2. Tournament Dates and Fishing Range a. Tournament runs from October 1 through December 31. b. Fishing expeditions must begin and end out of a New Jersey or Delaware port. c. Boats may fish anywhere as long as they are within 3 nautical miles of the coast, and remain consistent with state fishing regulations. 3. Scoring a. Only striped bass may be entered. b. Scoring will be based on a "stringer of three" striped bass in a 28"-38" slot, and will be based on total weight for the three fish. Lengths will be measured in straight nose-to-fork. c. Weigh-in slips to closest 1/100 pound (with length data) are required for dead slot fish. 4. Awards a. There will be a striped bass trophy awarded to the top angler with the heaviest "stringer of three." This trophy must be either defended or returned to the club during the following year's contest. b. Anglers releasing the heaviest and longest fish (with photos to prove it) will receive recognition with a special prize. c. Worst showing award: There will be special recognition for the boat and crew finishing in last place. d. Note: There will be no cash awards presented by PJSA. 5. Entry Fees a. Entry fee for this tournament is $20 per angler (includes 1 shirt), or $55 per boat (includes 3 shirts). b. Additional shirts may be ordered at the start of the tournament. 6. Captain's Meeting a. A captain's meeting will be held prior or shortly after the start of the tournament either in person or by telephone. If a boat's captain is unable to attend, he or she may designate a crew member to represent the boat at the meeting. 7. Awards Ceremony a. The awards ceremony will be held at the first regular PJSA meeting during the following year.
